A Light-Weight Technique to Detect GPS Spoofing Using Attenuated Signal Envelopes

Global Positioning System (GPS) spoofing attacks have attracted more attention as one of the most effective GPS attacks. Since signals from an authentic satellite and spoofer undergo different attenuation, captured envelope fake exhibits distinctive transmission characteristics due to short paths. This can be utilized for detection. The existing technique are either computationally too expensive, require specialize hardware/software updates, or not accurate enough. To solve these issues, we propose a light-weight detection method based on dynamic threshold signal envelope. We validate proposed using experiments actual hardware. relation between distance transmitter receiver revealed. Inspired by uncovered relation, approach towards is developed. features determined dispersion value envelope's variance instead fixed maximize performance in multiple attack scenarios. results show that effectively detect with better accuracy lower computational complexity compared techniques.
